CONNECTIVITY - Virtual Private Network
If your company needs to link
several sites or allow remote workers access to office systems
and security / privacy of information are potential key issues,
a V.P.N. from 4FrontMedia is the ideal solution.

There are often a number of problems
associated with multiple office networks: The need to purchase
separate line equipment for each site. Buying the WAN circuit
and the network management time can be costly. Connecting and
managing the network is usually left to the site administrator.
How can a V.P.N.
help?
Link your company - a 4FrontMedia
V.P.N. will allow your company to connect it's sites - enabling
you to share information stored on local machines and access
resources otherwise unavailable to you.
Cost-effective
- circuit installation and provision of a 4FrontMedia Private
Network is a fraction of the cost of traditional private wire
purchases. Each office simply needs to connect at their desired
speed to a local exchange.
Enhanced security
- sensitive information that is passed from one host to another
causes security to be a concern to your organisation. A V.P.N.
creates a safe link through the generally unsafe fabric of
the Internet. Using the latest encryption techniques all traffic
shared between offices is guaranteed to be private and secure.
No administration
- all network management of the V.P.N. is performed internally
at our partners Network Operations Centre (NOC). This releases
your IT department to focus on all of your local tasks.
By establishing a V.P.N. you actually construct
a virtual 'tunnel'* between routers which prevents any unauthorised
access. In addition to the encrypted tunnel, an optional Firewall
may be installed on your network to limit Internet access
both to and from the office LAN*
Optional functionality
It is also possible to allow your remote office workers to
dial into the existing 4FrontMedia modem racks, forming a
Point to Point Tunnel with their local office network. This
allows them to send and receive data when they are physically
away from the office LAN, whilst maintaining the security
of the data transfer. Despite using our partners modem racks,
remote workers can appear as
if they are connected directly to the local office network.
Important points
Our V.P.N. solution is tailor-made to suit your company's
requirements. Whilst some common packages can be put together.
Each implementation will be slightly different based on the
set-up your organisation requires. As there are a number of
components involved in setting up a V.P.N, the total charge
to your business is the sum of these costs:
The Router set-up
The Internet access
The Firewall set-up etc.
Access to our partners network in London
and Paris can be achieved using either ISDN or leased lines.
Cisco currently has a fairly scalable Router which has been
designed for V.P.N.'s This consists of one Ethernet port and
two slots for use with a variety of WAN technologies. It also
implements an integrated Firewall product.
