mailsafe e-mail virus scanning

mailsafe managed e-mail virus scanning - the process

mailsafe scans mail using three industry leading anti-virus engines, Sophos, Kaspersky, and F-prot. E-mail's carrying known viruses or suspicious / banned payloads are identified and quarantined off-site, prior to delivery to your company PC's, Servers or Network's.

How the process works

The diagram below shows the scanning process from the moment mail is received by mailsafe, through to the time it has been scanned and either delivered clean / acceptable or quarantined due to being infected / suspicious or unacceptable to the users site.

Email virus scanning using heuristics and software from Sophos, Kaspersky, and Fprot.

Once an inbound infected / suspicious / banned mail has been quarantined, both the 'Sender' and the 'Recipient' will be notified by e-mail. The 'Recipient' by giving written authorisation has the option of accepting the infected / suspicious / banned e-mail or attachment. For outbound e-mail's the sender only is notified, allowing swift action to cleanse in-house systems and ensuring that customers are unaware that your company may have an infection or have accidentally sent banned content.

All infected / suspicious / banned mails are quarantined on vslnet's servers for 30 days, after which it will be deleted. All details of quarantined mails are available through the NEW advanced mailsafe Control Panel.
